Description
Extremely, rare, 9" tall, very hard to find, c.1870,
1st Period
,
FRENCH
antique bisque shoulderhead, fashion-type doll figure of a male fisherman
with
closed mouth
and enamel blue eyes, very well
defined, double eye lid lines, eyebrows, delicately molded & glazed, curly black hair
with
lots of brush marks and painted curls
and good cheek color. He has
a
fine twill cloth body with
antique wooden arms
and
wears tall black, waders (boots) with scalloped tops and
charming, two-piece,
French provincial costume
(long jacket and wide leg trousers) of heavy brown linen with collar and heavy woven fishing rope over one shoulder, original
wrapped
fishing net, with several pieces of cork attached, over his other shoulder. He holds his wooden pipe in one hand and is in excellent condition with no hairlines, no chips or cracks, no repairs and no odors as he is from a smoke free home. His clothing has no age splits, no stains or holes. These early French dolls are
quite difficult to find
and make extraordinary additions to your French doll collection. We are listing his, equally rare, female companion (
not included
in this listing) as shown in last photos. If you wish to purchase both please contact us for reduced price.
Please note:
nearly all of our items are
antique or vintage
(usually with some signs of wear due to usage and previous storage). We do our very best to describe and photograph them for you and do not repair, restring, repaint or enhance them in any way as most collectors prefer to find them in their original state. Please use the zoom feature on our photos as they are an important part of the description.
Let us know if we can help you with anything else. We have
more antique and vintage dolls, dollhouse furniture and antique dollhouse dolls available,
each listed separately.
