Unis France 60 Antique French Bebe Doll

Darling French bebe by SFBJ in their popular 60 mold with the numbers 71 and 194 next to the
Unis France stamp on the back of her head. This bebe is their size 3/0; when measured like Bluette from the side she is 13 ½” or 14” when measured from the tips of her toes to the very top of her head. She’s got a sweet French girl’s face with open mouth and big teeth, red lips, lots of painted lashes but also she has retained all of her original mohair lashes as well which are on rockers so she can sleep when in the laid down position. She is on a fully articulating wooden body with all fingers and appears that she was never played with at all, something that we don't usually find with antique dolls.
She is in excellent condition, some might even say 'mint', with her all original undergarments still sewn into place, stuffing for a pretend bosom, nailed down high stockings and nailed down shoes which were never removed. She is still on her original stringing and her arms can hold a pose or hold lighter things fine. Her legs can bend at the joints without issue although they don’t stay up for very long but she stands fine. Her head holds poses just fine; it is not too tight or too loose but leans back a little bit when laid down. She is in excellent antique condition with just a small area on her leg where the paint dried, so not a flaw as she was made this way, and one bow is missing off of one shoe. Amazing condition for a doll of her age.
She is wearing an original antique costume of French design, bright red chemise type dress trimmed in white lace with a matching bonnet and original old thin feather on it. The fabric holds a form well. Amazing condition for the age and she displays beautifully. There are a few minor age related issues to the costume: some tears in the tulle part around the collar and a light tan spot to one of the stockings. These are just from age. Everything I have gently hand washed, even though she was already clean. Her cardboard pate is original to her but the wig is a vintage replacement. Her head
has been lighted and it
is without chips, cracks or repairs.
You see her in the last few photos with her little sister Bleuette, who is not included in the sale but just shown for size reference. She is a 60 mold like Bleuette; she is what we would call a 'Rosette type'. As she is slightly shorter, and an early doll than Rosette, I think she makes an even better companion for Bleuette.
