Very unusual copper engraved view of St Martin island, in Caribbean,
by Arnoldus MONTANUS (1625-1683).
The view represents a naval battle in the harbour of present-day Philipsburg in the Bay of St Martin. The plate depicts one of the attempts by the Dutch to recapture Saint-Martin after the Spanish conquest of the island in 1633.

Condition :
an old and clever repair in the right side of the plate, but good condition.
