Description
Handsome antique map of the West Indies, Central America, and part of the southeastern United States in original hand color, engraved and printed more than 195 years agoThe map labels East and West Florida, below the southern boundary of the United States, and it locates San Antonio de Béjar, El Paso, and the lands of the Apaches, in what is today the state of Texas.
The coverage area extends from Sonora, Mexico to Trinidad, including the Bahamas, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, the Yucatan, Honduras, Panama, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Cuba, and dozens of smaller islands in the Caribbean.
The map was engraved by Samuel Harrison and published in Philadelphia by Samuel F. Bradford, and Murray, Fairman & Co. in the atlas to accompany Abraham Rees'
Cyclopaedia, or Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, and Literature,
