    Mexico City, antique engraved print in bird eye view of the city from the mid- 17th century.
    In 1630 there was a serious proposal to move the capital to dry land instead of continuing with constant flooding. The copperplate print in hand coloring showing the city after the lake had been drained.
    Cartographer:
    Jacques Nicolas Bellin (1703 – 21 March 1772)
    Bellin was born in Paris. He was hydrographer of France's hydrographic office, member of the Académie de Marine and of the Royal Society of London. Over a 50 year career, he produced a large number of maps of particular interest to the Ministère de la Marine.
