An unusually large cloth hanging map of the Panama Canal during construction in the very early 1900's. The total dimensions of the map are 44" wide x 36" long with a printed area of 41" wide x 17" long. The map indicates it is Topographic - Diagramatic - And Illustrative. Sections of the map show the Present Condition of Canal, the Profile of the New Canal and As the Canal Will Look When Completed. The map was compiled from U.S. Government Reports Obtained Through the Courtesy of Senator Morgan, Chairman of the Interoceanic Canals Committee. Senator John Tyler Morgan served in the U./S. Senate from 1872 to 1907. While there are losses, most are in the unprinted area at the top of the map. Only slight losses to printed area, primarily to the lower right. While the first photo shows the entire map, the second photo shows the area that could be framed to make it a bit more presentable. Great map that was likely printed in a very limited edition. I could find no others similar to it through an internet search.
