Description
This featherweight, Snub-Nose guitar slide and slide ring combo is the perfect addition to your tonal arsenal. The Zn68 slide is a shorter version of the Zn64 Low Profile guitar slide and the slide ring (depending on finger size) can fit comfortably on (perhaps) the ring finger to add slide accents, without encumbering finger playing. Both the slide and the ring offer the tone of brass, without the weight and bulk. They are everyday slides that can ride in your pants pocket, or even on your finger in the case of the ring, and can be at the ready for an unexpected trip to the guitar store or a jam session at a friend’s house.
Both the Zn68 slide and ring is fabricated from the casing of a spent .50 caliber round. The shell is cut, ground and filed to shape and then sanded and polished to an appealing finish that will form a rich patina over time (see photo number 4 for an example of a Zn64 slide that I have been using for years).
For some players (depending on finger size) the slide can be worn on the ring finger, but it’s greatest value is as a slide accompaniment worn on the pinky finger to accent the fretwork of the first three fingers. This slide is so light weight that it is barely noticeable on the pinky, when fretting single notes or chords, and its snug fit keeps it from sliding off—this slide feels like an extension of your finger.
All edges are filed, sanded and polished for comfort and aesthetics. The lower portion of the slide is cut away at an angle, to provide greater maneuverability and a slightly larger inside diameter at the rim. This adds to the style and elegance of the Zn68 combo and most importantly your playing experience.
The Zn68 brass casing guitar slide comes with a cotton drawstring carrying bag to protect its finish from the hazards of your everyday carry. The ring will come individually wrapped in the same container, but both will fit in the bag.
Dimensions:
Length of Slide: ~1-3/4” (44.5mm)
Length of Shortest Playing Surface: ~1-¼” (31.8mm)
Length of Ring: ~⅝” (15.9mm)
Inside Diameter: 5/8” (15.9mm)
(US Ring Size - 7)
I wear a US ring size 10 (for my ring finger) and this fits my pinky finger perfectly, but it’s also great for players with thin fingers or youths, who find normal slides too large.
Each slide is handcrafted in Fenton, Missouri.
