    Description

Goalie Glove Set Catch Blocker-John Brown Elite & CCM Gatekeeper. Up for sale to some lucky buyer is a hockey goalie regular glove set (catch left/blocker right), both in game ready condition, pre-owned, been used and work wonderfully, both sized as adult/senior/large, matching black and white colors. The CCM catch model Gatekeeper (9 new) has a huge spread but with a modern narrower cuff, and is actually a wee bit lighter than my pro set. It has a great strap-in set up with an outside cuff velcro, then an inside pull wrist strap that places with velcro as well, add in two thumb straps and a 'cooling pad' at the palm area, pocket is deep and glove is far from being broken in perfectly for its user. Very secure and comfortable, an awesome catch glove. Now on to the Brown Elite blocker (I found it found it listed 'new' at an outlet 9), it is a senior/adult/large. Palm is intact and healthy, glove fastening adjusted by a single strap and locked in with velcro, so it is like my other Brown blockers with freedom of wrist movement (unlike other brands I've used). This one I put a lot of love into and fully refurbished it to great game ready status. I bought it used many years ago with a broken thumb (seller did not disclose any details), but I favor the Brown gear so I bought it. The edges were semi unlaced and and half the palm was free fingering. The palm leather was still actually in good shape and complete, but the thread had either corroded or was never repaired when loose. It was a mess the wife thought I was about to lose my first patient. Not so. FI replaced the nylon board in the thumb, and then doubled up the upper area with more nylon bracing, as a result it's sturdier now than it was new I'll say John Brown would be impressed. I re-laced it back up with wax thread, internally affixed with a double layer of closed cell foam, then replaced the outside welting with lighter material instead of the eventually frayed cloth normally used (I do this with all my repaired gloves). I opened up the waffle board pouch and replaced the flattened cloth padding with modern closed cell 1/8" thick waterproof foam (makes a nice muffled thud sound now when a puck hits it versus the hammer to plywood sound most of them have), then closed it up with waterproof heavy duty nylon boot thread (I have an older all leather Brown blocker I did this with some twenty years ago and the thread still looks new after years of use). My first set of Brown leg pads i repaired with the aforementioned wax thread some thirty years ago and it still looks like I just did it yesterday. Palm has been re-laced with wax thread, actually in overlap at stress points. I also re-laced the thumb strap connector just for good measure while I was at it. In note there is usually an extra swoosh sewn onto this model on the face of the blocker, it was half hanging on and ripped when I got it so when I took the board out to refurbish it I just pulled the rest of the thread and removed it, this does not effect its use or lifespan at all. Overall this is a great set of blocker and catch gloves for either the busy goalie as backup gear or a great upgrade if you're looking for quality gear without breaking the bank (and yes the Brown gear is/was pricey new). I've used this set twice in pickup and it feels and works great, as well as it looks great. Thank you for looking at the listing and I hope it piques your interest, or maybe solves a gear solution for you.
