This is an antique bisque head doll made by JD Kestner in Germany in the late 1800s or early 1900s
This doll was one of two I purchased from the previous owner, who purchased them from their original owners, a pair of twin sisters, each of whom was given this same doll
Both dolls are all original except for their wigs, which were replaced to complement their eye color
Be sure to visit my store to bid on this doll's "twin sister" who has blonde hair and blue eyes
This doll's description is as follows:
Marks: 7 1/2 148
Manufacturer: JD Kestner
Size: 19"
Head: 8.5" circumference with attached shoulder plate
Body: Original kid leather with bisque lower arms, cloth feet
Features: Open mouth with teeth, slight dimple in chin
Wig: Replaced light brown human hair (made in France) with original plaster pate
Eyes: Brown sleep (original)
Condition: No chips, cracks or damage to head and it's passed the flashlight test
The body is in excellent condition with no chips to hands and no major damage, tears or leaks except for two tiny splits at the sides of one knee
The doll comes dressed in her original clothing as shown which includes dress, full slip, petticoat, pantaloons, socks and shoes, as well as a hat
Her clothing is in excellent condition overall with just some spots on the undergarments and wear to the hat, and the shoes have some wear, as shown
A beautiful doll that displays wonderfully and the stand is included
