These maps were published by A.J. Johnson, New York, 1867, and have excellent detail, with original hand color. Each map has a decorative swash title and is dated in the lower margin. The coverage area extends from Dallas, Texas, to the Bay of Panama.
Named places and features include Belize, Costa Rica, Cozumel, Galveston, Fort Yuma, Campeche, Chagres, Rio Grande City, Tabasco, Durango, Guatemala, Honduras, the Panama Railroad, Lake Nicaragua, and many more. There are two insets: the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Isthmus of Panama. Longitude is measured from Greenwich and Washington. The scans below give a closer look:
